Markham is sending an advanced copy of an unpublished poem by Swedenborg for him to inspect. Markham see s him as the greatest scholar of the 18th century. Markham also reminds him that he is was the literary editor of the Hearst Newspaper. He discusses Swedenborg and refers to Edward Holden, Carlyle, Emerson Balzac, Browning, and James. At the bottom of the letter he refersto Mr. and Mrs. L. Brackett Bishop who erected a fine statue.
